This guide is not about training, pure builds or money making on your pure.

This guide is about bonuses and how to obtain and maximize them.

          perfectpure2.png

The ‘perfect’ pure is, according to most, the pure with maxed out stats. Although this isn’t completely true. This guide will show you that the power of a pure doesn’t reside in its combat stats, it resides in its bonuses. Bonuses are what makes a pure a pure, it increases their hit at a low level.

Bonuses for a pure can be way higher than most people might know and higher than most pures may or may not have. In this guide I’ll focus on every single bonus improvement there is for a pure that can be achieved without boosting their desired low stats such as Prayer, Attack, Defense or Summoning above a useful maximum.

          perfectpure3.png

Quests are THE most important part of a pure. A quest can make or break your pure, because if you have completed more useful quests than your opponent your bonuses will be higher. This means that you will have more accurate hits, than someone who has not completed these quests. Bonuses obtained through quests can give you an advantage over your opponent.

As quests are very useful I recommend you to do all, if not most, for your desired Defense level, especially those that reward you with experience in a stat you may not want to train above a certain level. The Quest requirements for a quest are only the quests you need to complete to start the specific quest in the guide. Some of the pre-quests have pre-quests too, those aren’t listed.

          [ - 1 Defense - ]

          Animal Magnetism

          Priority level:High

          Requirements

          Quests

          • Restless Ghost

          • Ernest the Chicken

          • Priest in Peril

            Stats

            • 18 Slayer

            • 19 Crafting

            • 30 Ranged

            • 35 Woodcutting

            • 15 Thieving

              120802180307.png

Animal Magnetism is a quest which is required if you are a pure with any higher than 1 Prayer. Part of its reward is Ava’s Device which is the best cloak you can use when ranging. It offers a +4 Ranged attack bonus and retrieves your arrows, bolts, darts, throwing axes, throwing knifes and obsidian rings.

It may also attract some ores or other iron and steel items. However, this option can be turned off by right clicking the Accumulator and toggle the collecting off. You can obtain as many Accumulators as you want as long as you buy them for 999gp a piece and upgrade the Attractor to an Accumulator with 75 steel arrows a piece.

              Death Plateau

              Priority level:High

              Requirements

              There are none!

              120802181429.png

The reward from Death Plateau is the best pair of boots a pure can have, Rock Climbing Boots. They offer a +2 strength bonus and can be obtained from either Tenzing or the Grand Exchange. Tenzing sells them for 75k a piece.

              Desert Treasure

              Priority level:High

              Requirements:

              Quests:

              • Temple of Ikov

              • Digsite Quest

              • The Tourist Trap

              • Priest in Peril

              • Troll Stronghold

              • Waterfall Quest

                Stats:

                • 53 Thieving

                • 50 Firemaking

                • 10 Slayer

                • 50 Magic

                  120802181359.png

Desert Treasure is one of the, if not the most important quest to do when you’re a pure with higher than 1 prayer. It offers access to a whole new set of spells, the Ancient Magicks. This spellbook enables you to use Ice, Shadow, Smoke, Blood, Miasmic and new teleportation spells.

The ancient staff is unlocked at the end of this quest. It can be bought from Eblis at the mirrors, once, for 80k. When you lose it you’ll have to buy a new one, however Eblis won’t sell them anymore. The ancient staff offers a 10% Magic damage bonus, which is obtained very cheaply considering the staff’s price.

To get on the Ancient Magicks spellbook you need to travel deep in to the desert to the pyramid where you finished the quest. A quest I advise doing for making this trip way shorter is Enakhra’s Lament, buy a Pharaoh’s Scepter or use the Home Teleport to the Bandit Camp. When you get the Ring of Visibility, during Desert Treasure, you unlock the ‘Curse of Zaros’ miniquest, I will get back on that in the Miniquests section.

                  Dwarf Cannon

                  Priority level:Medium

                  Requirements

                  There are none!

The Dwarf Cannon quest is real short and offers a great benefit, the Dwarf Cannon. The cannon can be used in almost all multi-combat zones to help you defeat enemies and granting you ranged experience without getting hitpoints experience. You also gain the ability to smith cannonballs which is highly profitable if you’re in need of money. This cannon does not work in PVP and should not be confused with the Hand Cannon, which is a reward from the Forgiveness of a Chaos Dwarf quest.

                  Elemental Workshop II

                  Priority level:High

                  Requirements

                  Quests:

                  • Elemental Workshop I

                    Stats:

                    • 20 Magic

                    • 30 Smithing

                      120802181635.png

Elemental workshop II is a very useful quest for pures. Its reward gives you the ability to wear Mind gear. This gear offer tons of Magic defense yet no negative bonuses elsewhere. This makes it very good to use when pking. The body gives a hefty +15 Magic defense which is the best for a body on pures. The Mind Shield offers +9, being better than the Holy Book yet being beaten by only the Tome of Frost and the Mage’s book. The Mind Body can’t be made by pures, therefore you’ll need to buy those on the GE. Mind shields and helmets can be made by pures, however I advise to buy them on the Grand Exchange too, due to the time it takes to get mind bars.

                      Family Crest

                      Priority level:Low

                      Requirements

                      Quests:

                      There are none!

                      Stats:

                      • 40 Mining

                      • 40 Crafting

                      • 40 Smithing

                      • 59 Magic

                        120802182151.png

Family Crest is a quest which doesn’t come to one’s mind when thinking about quests suited for pures. Although I do think it offers an amazing boost in training Magic when its trained using this particular method. The Chaos Gauntlets you can obtain through this quest offer an amazing boost to damage done by Bolt spells, spells cast with chaos runes. They increase the damage dealt by 30 life points.

                        Ghost’s Ahoy

                        Priority level:Low

                        Requirements

                        Quests:

                        • Priest in Peril

                        • Restless Ghost

                          Stats:

                          • 20 Cooking

                          • 25 Agility

The Ectophial, which is a reward from Ghost’s Ahoy, is a very convenient mean of transport. It teleports you to the Ectofuntus, which is far from any other teleport to this area. Also, the Ectophial can be used to make farming runs faster and for a faster route to Experiments for training.

                            The Great Brain Robbery

                            Priority level:Medium

                            Requirements:

                            Quests:

                            • Creature of Fenkenstrain

                            • Pirate Pete from Recipe for Disaster

                            • Cabin Fever

                            • Started Garden of Tranquility

                              Stats:

                              • 16 Crafting

                              • 30 Construction

                              • 50 Prayer

                              • Must have a workshop in your POH

                                120802181645.png

The Great Brain Robbery has one of the coolest rewards in my opinion, the Barrelchest Anchor. You get it at the end of the quest, after you have defeated the boss, Barrelchest. This anchor requires 60 attack and 40 strength to equip, has a special attack that takes 50% of your special bar and has a +100 Strength bonus. The Barrelchest Anchor can be used in combos with the Granite Maul or other special attack weaponry because it has a long attack animation. Also, less known, is the Prayer Book. This book, when wearing a holy symbol, cures your poison for a small amount of Prayer points.

                                Haunted Mine

                                Priority level:Medium

                                Requirements

                                Quests:

                                • Priest in Peril

                                  Stats:

                                  • 15 Agility

                                  • 35 Crafting

                                    120802182145.png

The Haunted Mine has a reward which is very useful when fighting undead monsters, the Salve Amulet. The Salve Amulet gives a 15% attack and strength bonus vs. Undead monsters making it very useful for training, List of these monsters. The Salve Amulet can be upgraded to the Salve Amulet (e) by completing the Lair of Tarn Razolor miniquest.

                                    Horror From The Deep

                                    Priority level:High

                                    Requirements

                                    Quests:

                                    • Barcrawl Miniquest

                                      Stats

                                      • 35 Agility

                                        120802181712.png

Horror From The Deep is one of the basic quests for a pure. It rewards you with the ability to obtain Prayer Books which can be equipped in the shield slot. Prayer books can be useful for melee, magic and ranged. There are six different books; the Holy Book of Saradomin, Book of Balance from Guthix, Unholy Book of Zamorak, Bandos’ Book of War, Armadyl’s Book of Law and Zaros’ Ancient. These books give offensive and defensive bonuses along with a +5 prayer bonus. When you’re getting over 60 Prayer you can improve the bonuses on the books by making them Illuminated. Illuminating your Prayer Books is a reward from the One Piercing Note quest.

                                        Lost City

                                        Priority level:High

                                        Requirements

                                        Quests:

                                        There are none!

                                        Skills:

                                        • 31 Crafting

                                        • 36 Woodcutting

                                          120802182158.png

Not a lot to tell about this quest, it’s fairly easy to complete and you get the ability to wear all Dragon weaponry apart from the Dragon Scimitar, Mace, Battleaxe and Halberd. This quest does not have to completed to wear Corrupt Dragon weaponry, because those items are F2P.

                                          Monkey Madness

                                          Priority level:High

                                          Requirements

                                          Quests:

                                          • Tree Gnome Village

                                          • The Grand Tree

                                            Skills:

                                            There are none!

                                            120802182206.png

Monkey Madness has become a must for all pures ever since you became able to get back to Ape Atoll without claiming the Defense experience. Apart from unlocking the ability to wear a Dragon Scimitar and the ability to use the agility course, this quest is also a requirement for a sub-quest of Recipe For Disaster, which is needed to get Adamant Gloves.

                                            Mountain Daughter

                                            Priority level:Medium/High

                                            Requirements

                                            Quests:

                                            There are none!

                                            Skills:

                                            • 20 Agility

                                              120810191118.png

Mountain Daughter is a quest which has the Bearhead as reward. This is one of the best helmets for a melee based pure with very little negative attack bonuses(-3 magic and ranged), it has some quite good Defense bonuses too. It’s gained by defeating the monster in the quest, therefore it is possible to gain the helmet without completing the quest. However, when you lose the helmet you can’t get it back without completing the quest. When you lose the Bearhead you will need to talk to Hamal the Chieftain to get it back.

                                              Recipe for Disaster

                                              Priority level:High

This quest has 10 different sub-quests. To get Mithril Gloves you’ll have to complete 6 of those sub-quests.

                                              Requirements

                                              Quests:

                                                              Priority level:High

                                                                                    120802182224.png

During this miniquest you’ll venture through the world, looking for ghosts. After listening to their stories they will all give you a part of the Ghostly Robes set. These robes are amazing, they’re free and offer a big Magic bonus. Therefore they’re used a lot in pking, for training there are better, more expensive, robes. The full set offers +21 Magic Attack and Defense bonus. By dropping the piece infront of the ghost and talking with it again you can get multiple pieces at once.

                                                                                    Mage Arena
                                                                                    Priority level:High

                                                                                    Requirements
                                                                                    • 60 Magic

                                                                                      120802182250.png

This miniquest is very useful, just as the one above. When you complete it you’ll unlock 3 new spells and a new cloak, which is the best cloak for magicians. The cloaks, Saradomin, Guthix or Zamorak, all offer the same bonuses; a +10 Magic Attack and Defense bonus. The spells hit up to 200, with charge and the corresponding cape equipped 300. All spells have their own effects too, Saradomin Strike lowers Prayer, Claws of Guthix lowers Defence and Flames of Zamorak lowers Magic. You need to unlock the spells by casting them 100 times in the arena before you can use them anywhere else. You can unlock all three spells and keep multiple staves of every god but you can only have one cape at a time.

At the end of the maze you’ll have to defeat Tarn Razorlor. Once you kill him go to the next room and take his diary. Use your Salve Amulet on Tarn’s Diary to get a Salve Amulet (e) which is an improved version of the Salve Amulet. The Salve Amulet (e) gives a 20% attack and strength bonus vs. Undead monsters making it very useful for training on undead monsters. Click for a list of these monsters.

This is the only minigame which is done by most pures. Yet there are many more minigames which can be quite rewarding. Minigames such as Castle Wars, Mobilising Armies and The Great Orb Project are very rewarding if you put in the effort. All of these minigames give some quite good rewards which can be widely used.

This is the hardest minigame there is. It is well worth completing though, only those who defeat Jad have the ability to wear a fire cape. This cape is the best cape for pures offering a +4 Strength and +2 Prayer bonus. Its offensive bonuses and defensive bonuses are good too, with a +1 Attack bonus overall and a +11 Defensive bonus overall.

Defenders are small weapon-like items which are used in the off-hand (shield) slot. Almost all defenders give a Strength bonus along with some nice offensive bonuses. The important ones; Steel, Black and Mithril both offer some good offensive bonuses for their required defence level. Along with the offensive bonuses Black and Mithril defenders offer a Strength bonus. Steel defenders give +1 Strength bonus, Black Defenders give +2 Strength bonus and Mithril Defenders give +3 Strength bonus. Because of the Strength bonus defenders are widely used for training and pking among pures with 20 defense.

Basically because it’s thought to be utterly useless. However, for a pure there’s a decent reward you can get from this minigame, The Rogue’s Body. This is a body with decent overall Defense bonuses. It offers +10 Defense bonuses to everything and gives no negative Attack bonuses.

Answer: If you’re sure you want to get 20 Defense start by doing quests. First of all Nature Spirit to unlock the sub-quest in Recipe for Disaster for Rune gloves. Secondly you can choose The Fremennik Trials for Kingdom Management and Yaks to train on. After you’ve done this quest you can choose to do more quests that give very little exp, about 500 exp in total, or just train the final experience.

Answer: This is completely up to your preferences, I’ve always liked the ability to use overheads. This is because it speeds up my training and enables me to perform good during clan events. I don’t ever pk in single combat so I can’t say what kind of prayer level is best out there. You should try it yourself, start low and train up to the next milestone if you don’t like it.

Question: Could you add in a section about Constitution/Hitpoints?
Answer: No, everyone can choose for themselves if they want low or high constitution/hp. I think that there is no reason whatsoever not to level HP myself. I always want it to be as high as possible to be able to survive longer, however other people might have different opinions on it.

Question: I thought I was making a pure, yet I see you talk about Defense Bonuses on a lot of subjects. Aren’t pures made to maximize offensive bonuses?
Answer: In essence, you’re right. A pure is made for maximizing damage at a low combat level. However, it’s never bad to be able to take a few hits. The main kind of Defense Bonus that keeps recurring is Magic Defense Bonus. This is because the Magic Defense Bonus isn’t influenced by just your Defense level like Ranged & Melee defense bonuses are. Magic Defense Bonus is partially based on your Magic level too. Because pures do train Magic you will be able to dodge some Magic damage. Don’t expect amazing defense bonuses nevertheless. The maximum Magic Defense Bonus for a pure is around +140 and this is with gear that isn’t effective in a fight. When you’re actually pking don’t expect bonuses over +80, Defense Bonus wise, so they don’t do a lot but do help.

Question: Is it really this important to quest most of my Attack and Prayer experience?
Answer: Yes, I cannot stress this enough. I’ve met so many people that regret not questing up their Attack or more often Prayer levels, because when they found out about this guide they realized what kind of items they were missing out on because they trained their prayer to their desired level instead of using quests to get the experience. Because they don’t want to level their Prayer or Attack they can’t get the items other people may have. This puts them at a possible disadvantage, while as a pure you want to have the advantage instead of disadvantage. This is why it is important to quest up your Attack and Prayer levels as much as you can.

With this guide I hope you’ve learnt that with the right bonuses pures can take a hit and strike back even stronger.

                                            Stats:

                                            [*]56 Agility

                                          120802181417.png

Regicide can be an annoying quest, however the reward is worth it. The ability to wear a Dragon Halberd works wonders for some training spots and slayer tasks. Apart from this you gain the Arandar pass shortcut into the lands of Isafdar which make it unnecessary to travel through the underground pass to get to the land of the Elves. Don’t try to train Attack with a dragon halberd, because its Attack mode is shared exp!

                                          Roving Elves

                                          Priority level:Medium

                                          Requirements

                                          Quests:

                                          [*]Waterfall Quest

                                          [*]Regicide

                                        Stats:

                                        There are none!

                                        120802181514.png

After Roving Elves you can choose to get a 2/10 Crystal for free as reward. The bow hits really high, a new bow hits 250% of your range level and one of 1/10 hits 200% of your ranged level as max hit. One crystal bow has 2500 shots before it returns to a crystal seed. There are no arrows needed for the crystal bow. Once the bow has reached 180k to buy/recharge it’s considered a good training weapon with a price of 60gp per shot which can easily be earned back by receiving 180k in drops. Yet its powers exceed those of a Magic Shortbow with rune arrows.

                                        Watchtower Quest

                                        Priority level:Low

                                        Requirements

                                        Quests:

                                        There are none!

                                        Skills:

                                        [*]14 Herblore

                                        [*]14 Magic

                                        [*]15 Thieving

                                        [*]25 Agility

                                        [*]40 Mining

This quest has multiple good rewards. First off the ability to teleport to Yanille, yet it’s not the most important due to the fact that there is a house-portal there too. Secondly, the multiple Blue Dragon spawns in the dungeon you unlock during the quest. Finally, most important, a cage with multiple greater demons. This spot is awesome for training your Ranged, if you bring a lot of telegrab spells you can also gather a decent amount of crimson charms while training there.

                                      [ - 20 Defense - ]

                                      Recipe for Disaster

The gloves you obtain are called Adamant Gloves because of their colour, they give a +7 Strength bonus and +7 in all Attack and Defense bonus in all but Magic, in which they give +4.

This quest is necessary on any 20 Defense pure. It unlocks the Initiate armour, which has the same Defense bonuses as mithril does. However, the Initiate armour gives a Prayer bonus too. There’s a +14 Prayer bonus for the whole set.

                              [ - Attack - ]

Thanks for posting it :)

13th posted it because some coding wouldn't work when I posted it. It worked when he posted it.

Thanks for all the help to those who helped and I hope you'll enjoy the guide. It took me quite some time and hard work to get all this information into the guide.

Such as? I havent done some of these things myself, therefore some info could be off. Although I do have it saved on my pc so I can improve it on there anyway.

i found one, in the gloves from rfd section. i believe you meant to say "rune gloves", rather than adamant (because those were already covered in the paragraph above).

There were 22 pages :D 7000 words. No problem with him replying like that, as you see there are more replies that are positive.
